About Seaton Village

Seaton Village is included within the broader ANNEX neighbourhood, as defined by the City of Toronto, and is sometimes referred to as part of the West Annex. While Seaton Village shares several characteristics with the Annex area to the east (notably its architecture and its popularity with University of Toronto students), it is generally quieter, more family-oriented, and with smaller, less expensive homes.

Despite its location in a very busy part of the city, the neighbourhood has succeeded in maintaining the feel of a small town village. Residents are presently working with the City to revitalize and manage Vermont Square Park, located in the middle of Seaton Village. Residents are also working together to calm traffic and ensure that their neighbourhoods remain safe, livable and lively.

The area is primarily semi-detached single family homes from the Victorian and Edwardian eras (built in the 1890s and early 1900s). Most are either of solid brick construction, while some have a facade of brick. Most of the stunning maple trees that line the streets were planted at the same time as the houses were built.

Transportation

Seaton Village is served by two Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) subway stations: Bathurst and Christie, both just north of Bloor Street. The Christie subway station is just steps south of the 11 Christie condominium. Buses run north from both Christie and Bathurst stations, and along Dupont Street at the north end of the neighbourhood.

Shopping

The stroll along bustling Bloor Street — from Christie Street to Spadina Avenue and the University of Toronto district — offers a myriad of delightful shops, bookstores, pubs, cafes and restaurants. Honest Ed's anchors the southwest corner of Bloor and Bathurst.

For groceries, it's just a quick walk to the Loblaws chain grocery store on Dupont or the enormously popular Fiesta Farms grocery store on Christie at Essex Street. Fiesta offers one of the city's largest selections of organic and locally produced vegetables, fruits, health food store staples and organic gourmet food. Across the street in summertime is Fiesta Farms' excellent Garden Centre.

The P.A.T. Supermarket on Bloor at Manning Street has a great selection of Korean and Japanese food items including fresh produce, meats and seafood, bakery items, frozen foods, and all kinds of packaged goods and prepared foods, including the classic Korean kimchi.

Bloor Street also has a couple of great corner green grocers offering quality affordable fruit, vegetables and house plants.
